​Study in one or more creative industries via Central Regional TAFE’s celebrated Visual Arts program. Training is offered across a number of qualifications and disciplines. Classes are taught at the picturesque Muresk Institute and will give you the skills, techniques and knowledge to create and develop concepts and ideas for your arts practice.  You can undertake any unit or units in the qualifications offered or choose to study particular units and disciplines at your own pace.

Suitable for:

​Beginners to experienced artists, hobbyists, if you’re just starting or those who want to have a career in the Arts. Also great for professionals who want to upgrade qualifications and mature aged people who want to participate in community arts, masterclasses and workshops.

Certificate III - Develop skills, knowledge, experimental techniques, concepts and ideas to use in creating works in design, painting, sculpture, textiles and printmaking.  You will conduct research and gain knowledge of art history, art movements and artists as well as develop an understanding of current issues and trends in the visual arts.
Certificate IV – Develop concepts and ideas for your own professional practice.  Increase your experience in specialist fields and maintain a directional focus to fine tune disciplinary experimentation in a number of chosen disciplines. Establish arts industry networks and gain experience in professional studio arts practice and presentation.
Diploma – Maintain and develop sustainable professional studio arts practice. Develop skills, knowledge and practice in selected and specialised fields with options to focus on one or more disciplines. Experiment and refine use of mediums and materials. Develop a portfolio of work when applying for higher tertiary fine arts qualifications. Create and exhibit a body of work at the graduate show on completion of the Diploma.

Prerequisites:

​Prerequisites for Certificate IV & Diploma based on experience, knowledge, portfolio and academic results.
Concession fees available for Certificates III & IV. Students may require Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment for entry to Diploma. No concessions available for Diploma. VET student loans are available for Diploma students.

Further study options:

​Study part time or full time. External study is an option for those living in remote or regional centres with some units going to be accessible online. Various workshops with Lecturer Robert McCaffrey and invited artists will be held at the Muresk Campus during the year.
Workshops and masterclasses in a variety of disciplines will be held over nominated weekends.
Certificate IV and Diploma will enable students to develop portfolios for applications to enrol in Degree qualifications at university.
