Stationhand school: Jillaroo/jackaroo training

​Tailored to individuals looking to work as a jackaroo, jillaroo or stationhand, this industry-ready course will provide participants with the skills required to work in an outback pastoral environment.

Students will receive competency-based training in:
•   Animal welfare compliance
•   Mustering livestock
•   Low stress livestock handling
•   Motorbike safety and maintenance
•   Occupational health and safety in remote environments
•   Fencing
•   Caring for horses
•   Horsemanship and hoof handling

This course will run simultaneously with Livestock school which will run for the first five days. Stationhand school: Jillaroo/jackaroo training will cover additional horsemanship training which will take place on days 6–8.

Suitable for:

​School leavers and mature aged students wishing to work as a jillaroo or jackaroo in remote locations across Australia.

Students who have the dedication and ability to work hard with a willingness to learn and commence each day early (6.00 am).

Prerequisites:

​There are no prerequisites for this course.
Previous experience with livestock and agronomy is beneficial.

Fee:
$1100 full fee
Fee includes:
$1,100 for 8 days; OR $750 for 5 days livestock, motorbike, safety; OR $350 for 3 days horsemanship. Morning/afternoon tea and lunch is included. Accommodation, breakfast and dinner can be purchased separately.
