Dohne vs Merino sire evaluation program

Back for 2019, the Stud Merino Breeders Association WA will continue to lead the Merino Sire Evaluation program at Muresk Institute. Merino ewes will be artificially inseminated using the semen from 12 leading sires. Prior to insemination our ewes will be prepared through good nutritional management to have a body condition score of 3 + at the time of insemination. Lambing is expected for late June when data collection will commence documenting the breeding performance of the 12 sires (birth weights, weaning weights and percentages). To see the progeny for yourself come on down to the 2019 Dowerin Field Days in August to see our shearing demonstration.

This program is funded and supported by the Stud Merino Breeders Association WA. Data will be made available on the Merino Superior Sires website managed by the Australian Merino Sire Evaluation Association.
