Muresk Institute’s training calendar is a bumper crop in 2019

More than 30 workshops, professional development opportunities and nationally accredited courses will be available at Muresk Institute in 2019.

The extensive short course training calendar ensures those in the agriculture industry are able to keep up with the latest innovations, skills and practices to stay abreast of the rapidly evolving industry.

School leavers and career changers are also catered for with Muresk’s Summer School kicking off in late January. This eight day program is designed to give participants the knowledge and basic understanding of general agricultural practices across livestock, quad bikes, precision control technology and chemical handling procedures.

Muresk Institute General Manager Prue Jenkins said the content for the 2019 short course training calendar was driven by industry.

“We have listened to industry and developed a calendar that fills their skills gaps. Our offerings are delivered by leading training providers and industry experts from across the country, she said.

“We are clearly hitting the mark with some courses already at capacity, so those interested in the courses are urged to book now to avoid disappointment.”

Upcoming courses include training in grazing management, biosecurity, animal welfare, business planning, drone mapping and livestock marketing. There are also some free workshops.

“Where possible we try to make our training opportunities accessible. Our Summer School costs just $650, and participants complete five units that contribute towards a Certificate lll in Agriculture qualification. The cost includes tuition as well as accommodation and meals for seven nights,” Ms Jenkins said.
