Sheep Easy at Muresk
24 August 2016
A popular annual field day for sheep producers will be held at Muresk Institute for the first time on Tuesday 13 September.
Now in its fourth year, Sheep Easy will be presented by The Sheep’s Back, a Western Australian network of more than 1 000 people involved in the sheep and wool industry.
The field day will showcase practical and theoretical systems for easier sheep production, combined with a mix of machinery and sheep-handling equipment demonstrations.
Muresk Institute General Manager Prue Jenkins said the field day would bring together a number of industry experts who would demonstrate the latest sheep handling and management technologies.
“Presentation topics will range from high tech to practical, with discussion around mobile apps for sheep production, GPS sheep tracking and getting the most out of your working dog,” she said.
“Leading edge sheep producer Andrew Ritchie from ICON Agriculture will attend, along with Peter Morris from PJ Morris Exporters. Peter is a major exporter of wool to China, India, Thailand and Japan and will discuss global markets and trends.”
Prue said between 300 and 400 people were expected to attend.
“Muresk Institute has become a centre of excellence and a hub for agricultural education in WA,” she said. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to Sheep Easy.”
